Lawn Fertilization & Weed Control

Customized Fertilization Programs that Beautify Michigan Lawns

At Back to Nature, we know that Michigan locals take pride in their home and business lawns. However, our landscape professionals also know that our soil is tough, often lacking the essential nutrients and microorganisms needed to promote new vibrant and healthy growth. If you’re tired of struggling to attain estate-quality turf on your residential or commercial property, Back to Nature can help. We offer a wide range of customized fertilization & weed control services explicitly designed to help Michigan lawns flourish with long-term, sustainable results.

An Up-Close Look at Our Lawn Fertilization Services

Proper fertilization plays a vital role in any comprehensive lawn care plan. Not only is a well-fertilized lawn healthier and greener, but it is also far better at preventing weed infestation, disease, and drought. As an added bonus, healthy lawns give back to the environment by producing oxygen, cooling the air during hot weather, and trapping and absorbing urban dust and pollution.

Water 3 times daily to keep new seed moist for up to 21 days. Watering schedule will differ based on soil types. It is very important not to over water or under water. If you have concerns, please reach out to our office.

Helpful Tip: Cut back on watering if at 6:00p your shoes become wet and leave a footprint on cement after walking on the lawn.

Crabgrass preemergent, which is applied at the beginning of the year, acts as a blanket of protection and prevents crabgrass from breaking through. Crabgrass CAN emerge in areas of which the “blanket” is broken. The most common areas where this can occur is:

  • Edges of sidewalks or driveways where it is commonly weed whipped too short
  • Areas of grass where it is mowed too short
  • Areas where the grass is thin and soil is visible
  • Areas where the soil is dry or cracked
  • High traffic areas

Helpful Tip: When turf is thick and healthy and is watered and mowed correctly our preemergent will last 90-120 days after application. If you experience crabgrass break through during the summer months, please note that it will die in the fall when we get the first frost.

When treating these persistent weeds, we are only able to kill what is on the surface, which explains their consistent regrowth throughout the growing season. This will take several applications throughout the year to keep them at bay.

Grass should be cut NO shorter than 3.5in-4in. To ensure that your mower is correct, measure the blades from concrete or cement, while mower blades are off.

  • Inconsistent coloring of turf
  • Brown or yellow lesions on grass blades
  • Red/ rusty color on shoes or mower blades
